Parkour @JLeagues
Parkour, also called freerunning, is a comprehensive physical fitness program that we offer in both group classes and private sessions. At our gym, for younger students, we run a little ninja warrior program which is the precursor for parkour. Our youngest children practice tumbling, which feeds into the flexibility needed for little ninja and then the flips and rolls used in full-fledged parkour.
For private sessions, we set up an obstacle course with safety mats, foam cubes, parallel and uneven bars, foam climbling walls, and more, and work on agility and spatial awareness to get our youngsters from start to finish in the quickest and safest way possible. As they start to develop these skills, we bring in rolls and flips while spotting our young athletes until they can independently perform these feats.
